My ornate has probably escaped at least three times in the last four years. It's always when she's soaking, I'll go in, get a drink, and she'll be waiting outside the seven inch high wall, looking at me when I come back out, as if saying, "I was supposed to stay in there?" Well, today, I cleaned out the cage, and decided I would put bedding in the cage tomorrow. I put the ornate, the eastern, and the three inch redfoot in the bottom part of a bird cage, put it on the floor of the cage and the ornate climbed out, crapped all over the freshly scrubed cage, then went back in the bird tray. I did that with Russians once, including an eight inch female, and they stayed in there all night with no escapes at all, but a five inch ornate can escape from the same thing in 30 seconds while I watch.
