Defect, or what?

jscrick Apr 12, 2008 12:28 AM

I bought an Albino (Kahl) Boa constrictor recently and I noticed something strange about its physical nature. Don't recall ever seeing anything like it before. Actually, its more of a feel thing.
The Superior Process of its spine is razor sharp. Maybe the spine is "razorback" formed, or this snake has less than normal back-strap/tenderloin muscle form, or is it just skinny and dehydrated?
Does anyone have any idea on what's up with this snake?
He seems to behave normally.

Got a picture? I have felt that before on a young boa, could have to do with muscel tone not being developed yet.

Without seeing the boa in person, I'd say you were right on with the lack of defined muscle in the area. Likely skinny then because this should be relatively lean muscle, not dense.

Bought the snake from a reseller. Didn't mention I was treating it for mites. Just got a greasy stool and a regurge from him.
Snake is back to his scrawny dehydrated self.
Poor guy has got issues for sure.
Hopefully I can keep him not too hot and not too cool and he can hang on long enough to take a small meal or two to get back on track.
