leopard lizard showing breeding colors

pek296 Apr 12, 2008 03:26 AM

One of my female leopard lizards, Gabby, has develop breeding colors early this week. I like to believe that she copulated with one of my little males today, because the spots on her has intensified and she's gained girth size. If so, then I should find eggs in about three weeks from today. My other female is showing signs of receptiveness as well. Some of her yellow spots have a bit of orange in them.

Okay, both of my leopard lizards are gravid. They were caught in the act and so where my son's side blotches. He's actually the one who witness it.
Also, my newly banded rock lizards are showing readiness. I'm noticing some peachy/salmon hue coloration on the female's back and signs of interest of the females from the male. We'll wait and see!

Congrats on the leopard lizards. Hope you hatch the eggs. How big of an aquarium do you have the rock lizards in? I thought my female may have been gravid but now I am not so sure. Just curious how our setups compared to one another. Travis

A friend of mine recently took a trip to SoCAl. I asked him if he could check out the banded rocks for breeding colorations, and signs... the answer was negative. Therefore, I think it's still not time, but that they should start mating anytime soon. Keep an eye on yours... I know I am.
My banded rocks are still in a temp plastic tub, a think it's 40 gal. I made a 48x24x22 enclosure for them. The set up it's going to be rocky, obviously. It's not ready yet, I'm still making the background and rocks. How's the set up and enclosure for yours like? Also, mine petros don't seem to eat crickets. Does yours? What do you feed them?
