Boa grow out rack?

Bighurt Apr 12, 2008 02:48 PM

I'm currrently using a DIY 41 Qt sterilite rack that is just lived out its life and needs replacing. I'm satisfied with the particular tub just not the current rack.

However with a busy work schedule and a part time job, maintaining a Boa collection and soon helping to raise 2 kids. I just havn't the time to build another rack.

I've been looking at quite a number of commercially available racks but what looks good on the screendoesn't always meet a keepers needs.

What I really need is suggestions of racks those of you have used.

Thanks

I made this rack system and it has lots of air flow around it and it is on wheel so you can move it around when you need to. I used a wire shelving system and the Sterilite 15 qt. tub # 1754 for baby boas and the Sterilite 74 qt. tub # 1969 for sub adults and boas about 6 feet long and less than 12 to 15 lbs. The 1754 tub measures 17 inches x 11 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches and the 1969 tub measures 44 inches x 19 - 3/4 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches. I also used 4 inch flexwatt along the back of each shelf to heat the tubs. Set up like the picture below cost me about $350.00 with a 4 inch X 44 inch flexwatt on each shelf. I mount the flexwatt with aluminum tape on 1/4 inch masonite that is cut to fit on each shelf. I also have a power strip mounted on the back side of the rack so I can plug all the flexwatt stripes in. I bought the wire shelving system at Sam's Club but it only comes with 6 shelves so I had to buy two shelving systems to make the one pictured below.

Take care
Tom
