Just some insight

I have read some posts in the past of snakes biting their owners out of defence, feed response, or shed. I have for years talked to my snakes when I opened their cages to let them know I'm comming in to clean or to handel them never in all this time have I been biten even during shed or right after feeding. Does anybody else feel that snakes can "feel" your sound and know there is no threat?

Absolutely...I tell mine I am coming in and they say "OK" LOL. Just kidding, I really believe that this is possible. I think they can sence our presents and know who we are.

Yes I know they can tell its me but I think its that when we talk to them they smell our breath . They may feel some sound vibrations but what ever is the cause they can tell . But some people will say they don’t have the capacity for that or for thought, but just one example of there intelligence is they will escape from any cage that is not escape proof and will repeat the same techniques ,that shows a learned behavior . I have long said that my snakes know me . And even show signs of affection . David

I have over 30 ball pythons but have only been bitten by two of them. In my experience, there are just individuals that are more prone to biting than others. I haven't had a ball python become prone to biting or striking that used to be more docile, and I haven't had a ball python that was prone to striking that became docile later on. But then again I don't try to change them either. But like I said I only have about 2 out of 30 that are habitual strikers.

I do think that every one has there own stile of keeping and that is fine . I my self have never been bitten by a Ball , I have been stuck at several times but I just take it slow and watch them closely ,reading there behavior is a art form learned by years of experience working with them .and each species is different in there behavior and the way you handle them . You just have to learn them and let them learn you . I have had a lot of Balls that came in to my Rescue and they have been abused in one way or another and some have taken a lot of work to get them to trust people again . But they will come around if you do it right . David

I applaud you in the rescue of snakes I just got one myself, A beautiful Dumerial Boa she is doing great. But I was wandering because the other night when I took her out she was in the middle of shed and very confused she never struk at me but my voice seemed to calm her. Any Opinions
