I am trying to keep a journal for my snake, she's a month old, and a little darling, and I was wondering if some of yall kept journals and what you put in there. I have put in the dates she has eaten, and how much. She hasnt shed yet so I havent' put that in there. Also how long is the little lump in their belly supposed to stay there after they have eaten. It seems like her belly flattens pretty fast after she eats. One more thing, do any of you have any recomendations for books that I can buy to keep on hand, instant gratification, you know. thanks, rheenie

"The Corn Snake Manual" by Kathy Love. It is an excellent source for everything as far as caring for and keeping your corn happy. I purchased it right after I got my first corn, and have read it twice from cover to cover. It is also helpful to go back to if you want to look something up. Good luck with your little one.

as for books, the top of the list would be The Corn Snake Manual by Bill and Kathy Love.
Start with that book, you can't go wrong.

As far as record keeping. So many people do it so many ways but I would think the more in depth your original information the better. Let's see...

Morph..ie..Amel, anery..etc
Possible and definite hets...
Parents..any and all info available
Date of birth (as close as possible)
Date of acquisition
Now, when you have as much background info as possible and you want to keep ongoing records I would think...
feeding dates
shedding dates
Defication dates ( if desired )..This can help establish a general feeding/defication time line which can be an indicator of possible problems if it changes drasticaly.
complete habitat cleaning dates

This is just what comes to me at this time. I am sure there are many people out there that can give you better ideas.
