Scratching hind claws?

kuitsuku Apr 13, 2008 10:01 AM

I've noticed recently that one of my geckos has been shifting his back feet whenever I hold him. My other leo has never done this, so I'm wondering if it means something?
Both of my leo's have been shedding every two weeks on the same day, and it happens pretty quick so I know they're not having any problems there. I originally thought he was trying to loosen skin off his feet but that's not the case.

I call it a he but it's most likely a chubby female. He's slightly larger than my other leo though so I've just become accustomed to referring to him as a male.

I guess I don't understand what you mean by "shifting" his back feet.

Do you mean scratching himself with his claws or you?

Could be anything from nothing, mites, or just he doesn't like the way you hold him. Could you describe a little more what he's doing?

Yeah I guess that's what he's doing, scratching with his hind claws. I'm not so much worried as I am curious though.
Basically he'll get on my hand, stand still, move his hind legs so I can feel his claws scratching my hand, then walk around.
