help for my african bullfrog

quarterpacman Aug 29, 2003 07:02 PM

hi i just bought a pixie frog a month ago from a pet store that i suspect didn't take great care of him, i put him in a 20 gallon long tank with half water half gravel/sphagnum moss, he seemed very happy for the first month but i noticed now that he has thrown up twice and is looking very pale in complection.... i'm worried about the poor thing... can anyone help me with this dilemma. Should i change his moss or give the tank a hardy wipedown...?

He may have an impaction. This can be from swallowing the gravel. Teh gravel is okay in the water part of the tnak, but I would put dirt on the land part, or larger river rocks. The moss can cause an impaction as well, but sounds as though the gravel could have done it. if hes throwing up i mean. The only thing to do for him if he has an impaction is to take him to a vet. Keep trying to feed him, maybe hell be able to keep something down. IS he looking skinny or just pale?

hes just looking a little pale, not any more skinny than he would be from throwing up, he's still pretty filled out... that's bad news what could a vet do for him if he does in fact have an impaction?
