First litter came on time (almost).....

rainbowsrus Apr 13, 2008 06:28 PM

Well, my anxiously awaited first BCI litter came today. Mom is Candy a very clean Pastel CBLT and Dad is a stunning Pastel Salmon from the Summit reptiles 2005 litter. Breeding between the two could not have went much more likr clockwork...

Introduced - 10/31, started courting the same day
Visual copulation - 11/16
Pre-ov (not noted)
Ovulation - 12/10
POS - 12/26

Due date from POS - 04/09
Due date from Ovulation - 04/11
Actual date - 04/13

Stats...

19 babies 0.0.12 - Pastel Salmon, 0.0.7 - Pastel
66.4 grams average, max 72, min 58
All full term no yolkers

observed most of the normals are some degree of CBLT while none of the salmons are.

I did snap a few pics, will take individual ones after they settle in...

This one has some pretty intense coloring already!!!!

Thanks, Yes Candy is doing fine, she didn't give me any lip (or teeth either) when I pulled her from her cage or when I put her back later after all the babies and goo were cleaned up. I'll let her rest and give her a nice snack tomorrow followed by a good meal in a week.

Thanks Dave, but really, I am just a big mouth that's had some good fortune to observe some neat stuff. I get just as excited when I figure something out as I do when a litter of babies are born. Then I just open my big mouth and babble it all over the place. That's all.

You've laid the groundwork for many others. Not that you're the only one to have had success, or to have babbled about it. Just you're the one who answered my questions and the one I therefore listened to. I really do appreciate the help you have been to me.

BTW, I love the "Reeses Pieces" name for the litter!!!

Defintely looks like some nice ones in there and I love how the mom is looking after the babies and is ready to defend them!

rainbowsrus Apr 13, 2008 11:14 PM

LOL, she does look that way, there was an inverted cat litter box with doorway cut out over the litter, she dropped them in the "hide". When I pulled the hide she was looking over them like coooll, I did that!!! She came out no trouble although I expected it and had a glove on. Worse part was a couple of babies were then draped over her and I had to stop midway to brush them off.
