King snake under carpet

earthsabbath Apr 14, 2008 06:38 AM

recently my king snake has decided to get under his carpet and stay there. he was getting ready to shed so i figured that is where he wanted to be. but he shed yesterday and he is back under the carpet. should i be concerned about this, and what can i do from going under the carpet

Hey, I tried to use carpet as well but being that the kingsnakes like to burrow, I would constantly find mine under the carpet smashed against the glass... I tried to place heavier plants or better hides on top of the carpet but it wasn't enough he would still go under... finally had to just put Douglas Fir Bark in the cage; oddly now that i gave him something to burrow in.. he uses the hides...

My juvie milks would always go under the carpet. I finally switched to newspaper. I figured if they want to burrow, I would at least use something disposable. They burrow to feel secure. Don't fight it.
