Chaostrigger Apr 14, 2008 02:51 PM

Today i checked one of my hognose females, who lays yesterday a clutch of 12 fertile eggs and i couldn´t believe what i saw.

My female of 480 grams (after the clutch) eats herself. yes no joke 30% of her body was eaten by herself.

I shoot a photo, but i don´t know how to attach to this message, if somebody is interested send me an email to koeln.lang@web.de

Sorry for that english, im from germany
Best regards Marc

This happend to me with a kingsnake many years ago.. but, by the time I found him, he was already dead..

At that time I had never seen anything like it and never told anyone about it, because i thought they would think i was nuts!! Then a while back someone posted a pic of a cornsnake dead in a circle and i realized i was not the only one..

I guess snakes are not as smart as we may believe??

This year - I went to feed my kings and my female lavender had her own tail in her mouth - though was not yet swallowing it.

Last year - same snake - she grabbed herself while trying to grab a rodent - I had to dunk her in her water dish to get her to let go.
