A cool new addition

waspinator421 Apr 14, 2008 04:22 PM

I went to Milwaukee yesterday to pick up this nice male from our very own Timmay. He is super cool, I haven't seen a BRB quite like this guy before. His colors are reversed, as he has a lighter base color than his saddles. What would you label this guy as? Reverse colored orange, or just a regular orange? I can't wait to try to get some babies from him next year. Hmmm... now who should I pair him up with?

He refused to sit still for more than half a second, so these are the best pictures I got.

Very cool acquisition Aubrey. I would just call it a realy cool or unusual orange. It would also be interesting to see if when bred to a yellow BRB if you could intensify more of a yellow body with orange saddles. Either way very neat BRB.

Congrats!

Sean.

Thank you Sean! I like your name "unusual orange", I may go with that.

Yeah, a yellow girl would be a good match. Amethyst is a nice light orange/yellow, but I plan to pair her up with Flax if she is big enough. That would be cool though if it were possible to accentuate this oddity so it has more contrast. Wow what a neat boa that would be!

Wow, that is quite a compliment coming from the man who has everything! Thanks!! I wonder if I will be able to tell when they are babies, or if it is something that develops as they grow? Time will tell I guess.

Wow, that's a neat looking RB! I agree with Sean, that it's in the "cool rainbow boa" category and that pairing it with a yellowish RB would be interesting. If you've got the cash and want to gamble, maybe pairing it with a proven hypo could produce some neat results.

Great pickup, thanks for the pics!

Thanks Ed! It might be fun to put him with a Hypo girl someday. I'm sure he wouldn't mind, lol.

That's what I would try, one of those real light and yellow hypos... would be cool!

LOL.... I was actually thinking about "Jasper". It doesn't really have anything to do with his coloration, but I like it.

Very nice! He's quite a looker. The pattern outline looks maroon on the pix, is it that way in person or just an illusion of the photograph? He looks quite stunning against the blue, his sides look almost bronze. I'll be very interested to see what he produces!

waspinator421 Apr 15, 2008 04:14 PM

It must be an illusion. In person his saddles and crescents are orange and his sides are a light yellowy brownish orange. LOL I don't really know how to describe the base color.
