Stripe is laying eggs

draybar Apr 14, 2008 07:27 PM

My female stripe cream is laying as I type.
She's laid 10 so far. I am kind of worried though, they are about 10 days early and they just don't look right to me.
They don't really look bad but they just seem a bit to "slick"
I will post pics tomorrow. Don't really want to disturb her now.

how about a few pictures?
I will start with the '06 stripe cream keeper

and follow that up with an '06 okeettee keeper

and an '05 cream I will be using for my cream/reverse okeetee project.

and how about a sharp little '07 cinnamon

well, i hope the best for you and the eggs!!! i had 1 girl so far this season lay 9 days before her expected date, but they look ok. i'm just getting anxious about the other girls in their lay boxes.. one girl shed early.... was supposed to lay 4-25, but it will be like 1 1/2- 2 weeks on the 18th. weird critters oh well.....

I am noticing a trend with my females. I have had about 8-10 snakes lay so far and every one of them was at least 2 weeks before thier due date. One even had eggs in her cage because she never shed and was no where near due. I am finding this year very odd.

my anery female.... actually shed.... turned blue again and laid her eggs and then like 2 days later shed again... i thought That was unusual.... but her first shed.... made her scales all stick out.... like they werent stuck to her sides like a normal corn... the 2nd shed they were a lil closer to her skin, but still sticking out some.... a lil odd...

It's odd for me as well.
One kingsnake never had her post brumation shed but was obviously ready so I paired her.

She mated on 3/16 and is quite obviously gravid - with her prelay on the 9th - just 24 days after copulation.

She hasn't dropped yet, past two years - she tends to drop two weeks after shed - so I'm expecting it in about a week.

Another female mated but is showing absolutely no signs of being gravid at all. She did not go through a post brumation feeding frenzy - but the male was extremely interested in her shed (even crawling inside it) so I figured she must be ovulating - and she allowed him to mate her - but I don't think she's gravid. The male is a proven breeder.

My third female - she seems to be doing things the normal way.

Well, 10 eggs is it. That look OK today.
She laid early last year too. I should have expected it.
The eggs actualy look better this year then last.
I never was sure the eggs last year would make it but they did so I have confidence these will make as well.
