How do you know?

How do you know when a female is carrying eggs?

Is it obvious?

I've seen pics of boas that are very obviously about to blow, but live bearing v.s. egg laying are different....

anyone have pics?

I'm totally lost on this whole issue...

You will know. If it's a big girl then its a little less noticable, but it's till pretty obvious. The lower 3rd of thier body will be nice and fat. When it's close to time for egg deposit you will be able to see the egg lumps if you pick her up and look at her belly first. On smaller girls it's very obvious. I have 2 06 girls that look like they were ovulating. Come to find out I missed ovulation and it's thier eggs. Goto Markus Jayne's web site and they have an excellent pictorial that walks you through the whole process from breeding to ovulation to egg laying.

The last 2 weeks they take on an "oval shape" and lie in a perfect coil the last few days. It looks as though their spine is wanting to protrude out of their back. They will not move around much at this point and look like they are waiting for a package to arrive -- imagine that!!! Jayne's site is very good.
