Yikes! How long will it take to heal with topical ointment?
Have I missed something ? How did this happen ?
This is how she was sent to me.
I brought her to the vet already. She is getting baths twice a day with diluted betadine and SSD is applied once per day.
She is in a tub with newspaper and I need to keep the humidity at less than 50%. I raised the heat on her hotspot to 91 to help her immune system. If there is no change in a week, I need to bring her back for antibiotics.
This is not what you want to see when a "100% healthy" ball python is taken out of the box after arriving.
I had this exact thing happen with my new BP.... Took him to the vet, told me it was the beginning signs of scale rot.... She gave me some nolvasan stuff to flush it off with twice a day, told me to put him on news paper and keep as dry as possible (but i could mist him a couple of times a day), and to give him a warm bath every other day... It took about two weeks and a shed and it was pretty well healed.. He's got some discoloring of scales left, but he's getting ready to shed again, so it should be gone...
contact your vet and see what they suggest.... Topical ointment may not help when it's at that point...
Try to keep her dry.. a lot of scale rot starts because it's too moist....
Good luck!!
