Congratulations. Your birthing set-up is the best.
That is the best way for the babies to clean themselves, with that third dimension of substrate.

Congradulations!!! I would like more info as to dates of breeding etc. as this is the FIRST time that I know of where young were produced this time of year. They will breed almost any time you put them together but young are born between July thru Nov. Indeed this is very interesting NEW info. Again CONGRADULATIONS....TC

I introduced the male to the female around the end of aug. they started courting right away. I kept them together into late oct.
After comming back from a reptile show on oct 20th I noticed the female was starting to gain weight in the back half of her body. I then took out the male. The female stopped eating, and just kept getting bigger and bigger. I didn't know how long they gestate so its been a crazy 8 months of waiting. I started to wonder if she would give birth at all. But this morning suprise suprise she finaly had her litter. I was also really suprised that the babies are shedding their skin right after being born.

They usually shed immediately after birth. The mother often eats after-birth, slugs, and occasionally live babies if she gets confused. I'm floored by the fact she had babies this time of year. I've produced many litters over the years and thats a first for me. Anyway the babies look great but unfortunately it'll be about a year or two before you know exactly what they'll look like. Can you post a pic of the sire. I'm going to have another litter this year but mine will probably be born in Aug. Thanks for the info...TC

Here are some photos of the parents. The first and last photos are of the female. The center photo is of the male.

Here are some better photos of the litter.

As I'm sure you know their extemely variable in color. I've seen golden ones like yours but also orange, black, yellow, and any combination you can think of. They also get quite large. I'm enclosing a few pics...TC

Those are amazing photos. I always hoped that mine would be really orange like yours. My pair is way smaller than the photo of that large one. I was wondering when do you offer them food and what do you feed them at first. any sugestions on getting them to eat. Thanks.

herpsltd Apr 16, 2008 03:14 PM

The babies are going to only eat anoles at the beginning. If you want to call me at 239-645-9661 I'll give you lots of info......TC

Their heads and color transformation reminds me of tanimbar pythons. They are awesome - congrats

jscrick Apr 16, 2008 05:23 PM

They look very much like a python, don't they!
The parents are really fine looking. Great to have viable populations in captivity.
