Cresteds losing tails?

fliptop Aug 29, 2003 08:40 PM

Hey, Crestiefolk,

How easy is it for cresties to lose their tails? Someone told me that he had a couple and one day he came home and their tails were off. I was hoping to get one at the NY Expo, but I'm worried about their fragile, nonreturning tails.

Thanks!

It really depends on the individual animal. Some are so edgy that they will drop it if you just look at them wrong. Others hold on to it for dear life…lol. And just because you start out with a calm animal it doesn’t mean it always will be, so you take a chance either way. However most of the time they are good, just handle frequently once it gets accustomed to its new surrounding and be careful. I am sure you and your crested will be just fine, if not and he happens to loose his tail, he still will be fine .
