feeding trouble

dcjketner Apr 16, 2008 01:27 PM

My female ball hasn't eatin since december, I've offered her frozen/thawed several times and has not taken, she just recently had a healthy shed, I don't know what to do from here, I have had her with the male several time over the months, I've never seen then actually lock up, so I don't know if she's gravid or not, would that be causing here to not eat ? My male is doing fine... any info would help..

That is perfectly normal for them no to eat. She will let you nkow when she is hungry, as far when she will lay if she just shed I would keep a watch in about 44 days for eggs, then again one girl waited 54 days. Best of luck

Only time will tell. I breed 4 girls last year and only two took, could have sworn the other two took, but they did'nt. Best of luck and I hope you get eggs.

It's perfectly normal. Especially if you're breeding but it does not mean she's gravid. I've had females eat right up until the day they clutch. Balls are known to hunger strike. I have a female that has not eaten since mid November and she has shed twice since then. As long is she is not losing a vast amount of weight your fine. Just keep offering food on your regular schedule. Do not try to feed her everyday since this will stress her out and will cause her to go longer. She will eat eventually. Had a female 2 years ago fast for 8 1/2 months and she's fine. I know how frustrating it is trust me we all do.
