Hi, I'm sure you are an excellent photographer and you have your own ideas about taking pictures... but I'll share the technique I use to get best (digital) photos of redtails..

Use strong indirect sunlight. Try different white-balance settings or manually set the white balance with a pure-white target... put your camera on Macro and use the spot meter, not the zone or full-image meter and target the lightest areas of the animal. This makes the pattern pop out..

I surely can make use of this tip Gus,Thanks for that info. Taking lots and lots of pictures using different settings to figure out what works best.Then when that camera wears out you start over with a new one,LOL.Lar M
