Great pics, thanks! Just pure opinion, but I think snakes like to get outside once in a while, for exercise and just to get some fresh air.

BTW, beautiful boa! How old is she?

Thanks,
Ed

When I take my snakes outside, I hold them the whole time. Maybe if they were slower moving or there were fewer hawks around, I'd be a little braver about letting them meander about on their own...

I don't blame you. I'm never more than 2 or 3 feet away from Jack when he's outside. That would be a nightmare to see a hawk swoop down and take him. (When he is full grown, though, he might be able to give a hawk a run for its money.)

Thanks,
Ed

WICKED cool to see!!!!! i hate to say it but i think it would... common there are just as many birds the eat snakes as there are snakes that eat birds.

i happen to love birds. and not just any birds but raptors!!! birds of prey!!! when i lived in mass i was all set to apply for a falconry permit then i moved and kinda got put on hold... but its still on the "before i die" list

I agree, it would be aweseome to see - just not my precious Indigo.

I like birds as well. I've been telling my family lately that I want to learn some more about photography so I can take some good pics of all the different bird species around here. That's my next hobby. Not sure I'm ready for falconry yet, that sounds like a challenging but fun endeavor. You have any good falcon pics?

Thanks,
Ed

I love that last one!

natsamjosh Apr 19, 2008 12:37 PM

Great pics, thanks. I think I saw a peregrine falcon a few years back, it was injured and being kept at a zoo in the NC mountains.
Cool birds.

On a related note, I was at Petsmart the other day, and this bird (a red conure) caught my eye. It was really beautiful, but it also started acting goofy/playful when I approached it. I was amazed how interactive it was. I must have stood there for 15 minutes making faces at it and rubbing it's belly. They must be fun to own, other than the noise they make.

Thanks,
Ed
