Pueblan has a great day

dekaybrown Apr 16, 2008 08:11 PM

It was gorgeous out again today, So I took our Pueblan out on the lawn.

He loved every minute of it. The sun was shining and the ground was warm Head raised and exploring the yard, what a sight.

I know some of you may frown on that, but I could not resist letting him out of that cramped box.

Lately his escape attempts have been almost scary, I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself.

Do solitary snakes go through any sort of breeding season behavior changes like lizards do?

Regards,
Wayne A. Harvey

Yes, single males, whether there's a female around or not, will often go off feed completely, others will continue to feed to some degree, and concentrate specifically on locating a female to mate with. They will sometimes cruise their cages endlessly for hours at a time in search of a female. When exactly they start this activity depends on weather temps in the area, they typically start around the early spring months, March and usually continues through the month of May.

That would explain a lot.

He has refused live hoppers for about a week and a half now, and every morning his bedding is all over the place, hide flipped, etc....

You're welcome,.........Don't worry about him in the least, he'll go back to normal behavior in several more weeks, maybe longer,...he'll be just fine until things get back to normal.
