Aberrant Cal king I found

RossCA Apr 17, 2008 10:09 AM

Found this king a few weeks ago. This is a pretty rare find for Riverside Co. and the best find I could hope for. I was really excited to find him. When I first flipped the board, looking down at him he looked banded until I picked him up. We see kings similar to this captive bread all the time, but finding one in the wild is an amazing experience considering they're rarely found in this area. Thanks for looking.

Wow! Nice find!

Orocosos- Thanks a lot!

Reako45- Anything is possible, but that type of aberrant is already a known morph from the wild. Most or at least a lot of the abberants produced in captivity don't resemble the types of aberrant's in the wild, because locals are extremely mixed up in captivity. There's all types of different traits from different locals being expressed in a single captive bread Cal king. Also this area is a likely place to find this morph. If it had been found a ways north of LA or Riverside, I would question it.

As for that spot with the flowers, it took me a good while to turn anything up there. I was looking in late March, early March would have been better but I couldn't get off from work at that time. Talk to you later.

Wow! Ross! That snake is awesome! Released pet maybe? Cool to find another one like that. Love the vibrant yellow. I saw some more of your photos on FHF, and that one w/ all the poppies looked just like a spot we hit out in Riverside )only wew weren't quite as successful).

I've seen that same color near Perris, but nothing like that pattern. That's a beautiful one. Love that Ali clip!

Thanks Joe! The king wasn't found terribly far from Perris, so maybe one could turn up there as well. The habitat was very similar to the Perris habitat, what I would consider the dry type of habitat in Riverside Co. I once found a shed skin off of Nuevo of a Cal king with dot's and dash's instead of a strip. Wish I could have found that one. Yeah, I love that Ali clip, he was awesome. thanks for the reply.
