Enjoying my BP, Oliver

tmontz06 Apr 17, 2008 11:32 PM

I know i've posted before on "omg my BP is doing this, what do i do!!" but this post is just a simple one, expressing how much I enjoy mine, and hope to get another one some day...

Today was the first day I messed with Oliver after I fed him last friday... I got in his tank, cleaned up a bit, changed water, made sure hides were nice and comfy... He actually came out of one of his hides, looking very curious, so I picked him up and draped him across my shoulders... and continue cleaning... he pretty much held on and let me do my thing...

When I was done we went and sat down, watching some tv and he curiously came down and found my hand, and started tapping it with his nose.... as if to say "hey, pay attention to me..." so... I started stroking him all over, he seemed to like it this time, where as other times, he'd curl up in a ball and try to hide his head... he actually enjoyed me stroking his head a bit...

Now, I've read that BP's are very head shy and don't like to have the tops of their heads stroked... but I think mine likes it... he just sat there and kinda looked at me like "thanks!" I dunno, maybe it's just me being a crazy first time snake owner, but for the first time since I've had him, he actually seems happy and healthy.. no scale rot, no feeding issues, NO STRESS!!!!

He's still chillaxin' on my shoulders, actually found a nest in my hair so he's havin a ball... :D I'm really enjoying him, and I CAN'T WAIT to get another one!!! :D:D

Thanks to everyone on this forum who has the patience to handle newbie's!!!

I love hearing happy 'newbie' owners--- especially when I can tell that they really care about thier animal being happy, and he sounds like he is.

As for the head-shy-ness. It is a common thing, but if you keep working with him, he shouldn't be head shy-- its all in what they're used to.

I have an ETB that is happy as can be, most gentle creature in the world--- unless you touch her head-- then you get some BIG-OL teeth....
