Late hook ups!!!

gypsy1dragon Apr 18, 2008 01:49 AM

Well, everyone said I should go ahead and try even though it is so late, and everything seemed to go fine.

I paired my Kathy Love male ghost with an unrelated female ghost. They didn't waste any time. I didn't beed him to his half sister, I didn't feel she is quite big enough yet.

I paired my son's amel female with my charcoal het "diffuse", they didn't waste any time either.

I have put them together now three days in a row, I'm hoping that will be good enough.

This is our first breeding attempt, please everyone wish us luck!

Thank you, I've been waiting for this since I got them as babies 3 years ago. Now I am going to be a nutcase until I find out if they are gravid, then until they lay the eggs, etc ...

Congrats!!
I had a couple of pairs of emoryis hook up yesterday.
The only real reason this may be considered late is the fact that everyone tries to breed earlier and earlier to "beat the market".
It's not too late for the snakes.

I always keep my snakes cool until the weather actually warms up. I started warming mine about 3 weeks ago and they already shed once, but they aren't interested.
My snakes (AUSTIN, TX, mind you) usually do it in late April/early May. There is rarely a slug thrown.

work three jobs. That seems to be making the time fly by for me. lol

It is always a difficult wait. You wait for the eggs to be laid. This isn't too bad because all you can see is the female getting bigger. But once you have eggs, you have something to watch. I think that is what makes the waiting seem longer. You can see the eggs and you just want them to hatch NOW. Add on the fact that you already had to wait 2 months for those eggs to get here, and your patience is already half done with! lol.

Check every 5 minutes ...

I've got a king that should drop any day now, and it's hard not to check too often.

that's the two hardest things...waiting for them to lay the eggs and then waiting for those eggs to hatch. Seems like forever.
I don't know about everyone else but I still get fired up when the clutches start pipping.
It doesn't matter what's hatching either. It's still exciting.
I hope it never loses that anticipation and excitement.
