Biggest JCP?

mfoux Apr 18, 2008 08:16 AM

Guys,
What's the largest JCP you own or have seen? Got pictures?
I've always read and heard the jungles top out around 6-7 feet, but I'm now hearing stories of some over 8 feet. Mine is at 5.5-6 feet and steadily growing.

in my experience,a huge jcp is around 6 1/2' or so.i personally think that anything bigger has to have some coastal influence somewhere in the last couple generations.the biggest diamond/jungle that i've ever seen was only 7',and i've seen coastal/jungles and coastal/diamonds over 8',so draw your own conclusions,ya know?

If you check the archives, I believe the Leary's had a 10' female named Rebecca.

Over the past 15 years working with jungles, I have seen several females from known bloodlines over 8 feet. A friend of mine has one of the first VPI x VPI jungles that I hatched which is now ten years old that is approaching 9 feet, no coastal or diamond blood involved. Like all snakes, jungles have a size range which is basically between 4 and ten feet. Good luck.

Thanks guys. Mine is close to 6 feet and hasn't shown any signs of slowing. He's a garbage disposal, eating everything I put in front of him, including all my other snakes' leftovers.

Mike is correct, Will Leary has published photos of a female JCP of his that is 10 ft. long. I currently have 1.1 JCPs over 8 feet long...they produced a clutch last year and my three holdbacks are each near 4 ft. long already (one year old!). Here is the dam pictured next to my son for size comparison (photo doesn't do her yellow justice, but you get the idea):

Cool! Great pics on your website, BTW. Nice animals. I'm hoping that since my JCP is still growing rapidly at almost 6 feet that it may reach the 7 or 8 foot mark. My mom gave him to me as a gift. He's from a pet store, so I don't have any information about his origins. Great snake, though.
I'm feeding him 4-6 jumbo mice a week plus leftovers and he always looks hungry. Think I should feed him more until his growth slows down?
Where did you get that allosaurus skull replica? That's cool!

Thanks...glad you enjoyed the website. You might want to try getting your JCP to switch to rats for your convenience. There are a number of threads on this forum on how to do this. I got the Allosaurus skull from an internet supplier...it was very pricey:

Thanks,
That is an expensive skull...but wicked! Maybe some day.

I doubt I'll have any problems switching him over, he's like a garbage disposal. I was just finishing off the bags of mice before I ordered rats. You know, freezer space and all. The mice look really good next to my fiancee's Lean Cuisine. And the pinkies next to the bag of frozen shrimp...they almost ended up in a gumbo.

My Carpondro is half JCP, and she's 7', 5-6" (measured twice). Her mate who produced the F2s last year with her is a JCP and is larger than her.
