WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

milksandbeer Apr 18, 2008 07:19 PM

Flipped this Alabama syspila today in Winston County. A lot of sweat, blood, chigger bites, ticks, and effort go into finding one of these jewels down here. Hunt hard and often in Spring and you'll find one of these about every 10 years. Most prairie rock turners would not believe the habitat down here. This ain't pussy
flippin' flat limestone rocks in Kansas or Missouri.

Thanks Doug. I'm typing and doing cartwheels right now. When you put so much effort into something and finally come through, well, it's a great feeling.

WOW, nice snake. You can see pics online all day long and even spend your hard earned $$ on what people want to get rid of....but you dont get the thrill, as well as the trophy. Problem is now you gotta find another one to make them yourself....Good luck!

That is one beautiful find! I'd certainly say the hard work paid off... killer snake!

You could spend 10 years breeding and still not get one that nice!

Know the gender yet?

Very nice! Hopefully I'll be able to experience that same feeling with a Temporalis this year. I'll keep you posted.
I bet you were jumping around so much that you shook off all the ticks and chiggers. LOL!!! Congratulations!

Yeah fair enough -- lol. I'm sure you'd hear screams up and down the eastern seaboard if I ever found anything as well!

Dunno about the cartwheels... might bring back a few moves though.

That sucks, you work your ass off for a long time to find a syspila and it turns out to be ugly.

Alabama is hard to hunt for syspila, which makes it hard for syspila hunters to learn how to find snakes there. I'd imagine that those prairie herpers would do just fine, in fact they have.

milksandbeer Apr 21, 2008 06:32 AM

Hey Chad, I was just trying to get a rise out of you. LOL.
Yeah, milks are indeed a lot harder to find down here, but like
you said, you get better with experience.
How are you doing lately?

Ugly?!!!
Here's a better pic:

Scott

gratefuldead Apr 21, 2008 10:16 PM

Hiya Scott, I forgot that was you, lol...I was like...uhhhhh, huh? LOL...

I still don't think that milk is all that, but it does have nice deep red. The head pattern is just a little too busy for me and I only like black triads on the top...yep, I'm a picky milk guy.

Missouri, BTW, is no walk in the park...syspila may be easy to find there, but the trick is finding many of them so that you can find the screamers.

Regardless, megaCONGRATS, I know that you've been waiting a long time and working hard!
