Yes, I use it for my boas, mainly the bigger ones though to help keep the humidity levels high

I tired it in six cages for a few months. Maybe it was just the type or brand that I had, but I found it to be "dirty" and "buggy". I didn't really like the fact that my Boas always looked dirty and that those little bugs, which seemed to multiply, were in there. That was my limited experience.

The beauty of Aspen is it is kiln dried and normally is very clean and does not have any bugs in it. The negative is it has zero moisture though. Cyprus is loaded with it and can be soaked down too.

Yes, it does depend on what type you buy. I have tried and used several kinds, and one brand which I don't remember the exact name but it was a Canadian type...it came in to the place I bought it on a big truck and was always frozen....even in spring...But it always had those little natts....or nats. I also tried the florida brands and they never had the bugs. Maybe it was just my luck not having them in the florida brands but it was good stuff, lighter colored and smelled better...not like dirt.

I liked it...but chose to use it in big tubs for the boas...then it could be taken out dumped and clean put back in.

I may even go back to it if i can find more good stuff again.

I used cyprus for my ball pythons and loved it. I got another bag of "Premium" cyprus and it was, if fact, buggy and dirty... then I found out it was a "Premium MIX"
