Recovering boa wont eat

FLAohHerper Apr 19, 2008 10:37 PM

I have a male albino just recently recovered from a respitory. Just had a really good shed and number 2!So I think all the infection is out and gone. Well through the process,he never ate(couple months give/take). He has been moving about his cage with tongue going crazy,as if hes hungry. Well for the last few weeks I have offered food and nothing.I leave it in overnight and still nothing. Anything tips or suggestions on helping him eat?

thanks for any help

I have a recovering male as well, starved through breeding season than got URI, minor infection he's out of the woods. However I feed him this weekend as well.

Same as your active toungue searching cage, he took 3 F/T from the tongs before eating one took all day to finally get him to eat. Patience and persistance are key. They become finky eaters when they are on the mend.

Try reducing the prey size and work the food item with tongs to intice him a bit, he needs to be interested in whats on the menu.

If all else fails you could try force feeding but that often stresses them out more...

Cheers
