Safe Water

nyoka7 Apr 20, 2008 07:49 PM

Hi all...so just trying to get some opinions.
As I'm sure you are all aware, nyc water contains chlorine. I purchased Reptisafe to mix into my western hoggie's water. But I have been hearing (from a vet) that it isn't the best idea to be mixing this into her water since after a couple of hours, the chlorine level decreases or is non-existent.

Is it better to put in reptisafe just to be safe? Or does this just give snakes extra chemicals that they don't need.

It takes about 24 hours for chlorine to evaporate out of the water, but chloramines will stay in the water.

To be honest, I dechlor water for my amphibians and fish, but not reptiles.
