question on switching from pinks to fuzzies

sjatm941 Aug 29, 2003 11:59 PM

we'll mayby i screwed up , i dont know . last week i tried switching my 02 arizona mountain kings from 2 pinks a week to 1 fuzzie each a week . well it turns out they didnt take the fuzzies , i think they could do it , but mayby they were too big , each started and quit , pretty fast . well so i waited a couple days and my male ate a pink and thew female didnt , this week actually tonight i tried a pink to each and the male didnt take and either did the female. ill try in another week the pinks or should i re-try the fuzzies ? im boggles of why they would stop eating after tring fuzzies . they usually would eat like pigs . if i wanted they would have eaten 3 or 4 pinks . but they have stopped .so here i am asking if any think similar comes to mind or any advise . im not to worried because theyve eaten in the past and should be fine , but im just curious . so if you have some thing similar to share or whet ever . thanks id like to here about it .

A good friend of mine was the former assistant curator of our local zoo....he kept a pair of Arizona Mt. Kings on display until the end of August. He explained to me, that every year durning the middle to last week of August, this pair would just stop eating and want to brumate. He raised them from hatchlings and they were on the same cycle for 8 years. Just an idea for you. They may just want to brumate. I know of a few breeders that brumate their hatchlings before they even feed. Just my thoughts.
