red dye question

jserrao Apr 21, 2008 11:08 AM

Having a hard time obtaining Mazuri at the prices I'm accustomed to here in central Florida. My plan was to keep the mice on 100% mazuri and have the rats on 25% mazuri and 75% dog food.

My question - Does Wal-Mart, Kmart, supermarket etc. carry a dog food brand anymore without the harmful dyes ?

Read the ingredients labels...best I can say. OlRoy....red dye. But I get Dads and it is fine. I am sure some don't have it. I am amazed how many do have it though. I had two dogs that were allergic to red dye. Course, I have dogs that are allergic to corn too.

Might want to look at the ingredient list for dyes. Color isn't really a valid indicator, I have seen brown kibble with red dye and red kibble without any. Go fig.
