has anyone prove hypermel Colombians?

micahdenton Apr 21, 2008 04:09 PM

I have seen a number of sold black anery Colombians on different breeders websites but I haven't seen any hypermel babies on any of those pages so i was wondering if anybody had a proven hypermel? I know super motleys are sold black (dark brownish) and that leopards are often real dark and last year there was a black boa produced in Europe that looked a lot like a dark leopard. so has anybody reproduce the gene?

Pete Kahl has reproduced his very dark line.

Here is the page he talks about the trait. I love it and look forward to seeing it combined down the road.

thanks for the link. I guess it's been a while sense i looked at his site. last time i saw it it was just her and not the babies. i think someone else brought another sold Colombian in to the country a few years ago to. looking at the pics of the ghost and the hypos it looks like the hypo gene was overridden by the black gene, not unlike the paradox gene in sand boas that causes black spots on albinos and snows. I would think sense it over rides the hypo gene it will do the same to the albino causing a paradox albino which will start like a normal albino and slowly turn black with patches or albino showing through. anybody have any thoughts on the subject?

That sounds like a fairly plausible theory. I look forward to seeing how it combines with the other mutations out there now.

To own one of those!! Well, what's left of it! ;p
No really, those are so b$tchin! I would give up a thumb for one, maybe my left one anyway. But I digress, I think watching those babies turn would be very exciting. You never know what you will get from one, but it looks like I'd like it no matter what! I hope to see some advertised or posted here eventually so I can admire them, since I highly doubt I'd be able to afford one!
Thanks for the link, I wonder how I could have missed those images last time I cruised through his site... they are breathtaking.
