Help needed with Progeny Predictor other than Mick's

h_ricker Aug 30, 2003 01:09 AM

I have downloaded Mick's Cornsnake Progeny Predictor several times and have yet to get it to work for me. I can read about all the colors but can not open predictor.

How do you get it to open?
Does anyone know of a site where it works??
Thanks

I had mick's program forever on my pc. Well one day I decided to clean up the desktop by moving icons around so there weren't so many. I moved his icon into another folder and its stopped working...i had the same problem you described...i could read about the morphs just not actually use the program....

try to keep the folder by itself on your desktop
(i think it even says it in his 'read me' file BUT i didn't think it would actually effect its use.

good luck

Make sure you actually EXTRACT all the files from the zip file to a real folder (directory). Most common mistake is trying to run the program from within the zip. Newer versions of Windows show .zip files as if they are directories themselves, which they are not. Also, make sure you have VBRUN300.DLL in your windows system directory or in the same directory as the files you extracted. If you still have problems, let me know the exact error message you get. The program works with every version of windows after Windows 3.1.

Do you have plans on updating the progeny predictor any time soon?
No complaints or expectations, just curious.

Jimmy,
If someone knows the proven genetics of a new morph, I'd be happy to add it to the program. The problem is that folks want me to add stuff like "Okeetee", "Miami", "Bloodred", etc. Can't be done because there are too many (an unidentified) genes involved. Believe it or not, I get emails about once a week asking when there will be an update. It's always the same answer..."Give me the gene and I'll give you an update". Then I don't hear from that person again, for maybe 6 months or so. Then we start over again!

You will hear from me in reponse... BUT, it will not be of any help.....LOL
Sorry, I can't provide any information on the proven or unproven genes needed for an update.
Therefore, I will not bother you with this question again.
In 6 motnths or 6 years....LOL
