sucky morning....

rainbowsrus Apr 22, 2008 11:32 AM

This morning really sucked, during morning cage inspections I noticed a slug in Ruby's cage, she wasn't due for another two weeks and I just knew it was a bad sign. Pulled her hide and found the pile of mostly slugs and some preemies. Looks like about 20 slugs and 10 preemies. Four of the preemies had no signs of life while the other 6 had very minimal signs. I've done what I can for the six and cleaned up the cage. I really don't have much hope for the six, all are small and one is super tiny. Bred by my motley boys, there were 4 motleys and 6 normals all het coral albino. There are 3 mots and 3 normals in the hopeful tub.

Mom is fine and what a sweetie, she was poking around the pile at the same time I was, I think we were both sad over the loss and looking for any signs of life.

That's always hard to take, so sorry to hear... but at least Ruby's doing alright and there is some hope for a few of the kids! We'll all be crossing our fingers for them! Good Luck and stay positive, you have much more to look forward to!

Oh no!! I am so sorry to hear that Dave. Like the others have said, at least mom is doing OK, and you do have many other pregos cooking up some babies for you. Poor little babies.

I know that "at least mom is all right" may be little consolation right now. But it's absolutely true. Keep your head up and look forward to the next clutch.

Was a rough morning and ended up moping around most of the day. All your kind words did help ease the pain and frustration. For me the worst part was this specific litter was planned for a holdback female Motley het Coral albino for a future project. Guess that project will take another year to complete.

Am feeling better and yeah, mom is fine and that's the good part!!!

Amazing how this hobby brings both elation and sadness. Too bad we get both!!! But look forward to all the elation!! you will get plenty as well!!!

With such a large collection you are bound to get both.

I have one pair of each type of snake, when I loose one ..I loose
