I'm a beginner and I have five of them already. I'd definitely recommend balls. Since you have experience keeping reptiles already, I can't think of a good reason not to. You can learn a ton just by monitoring this forum and reading all the posts and responses. It's one of the best resources I've found so far.

Balls are great starters. Be fair warned if you get one you will be getting more, they addictive like potato chips. I got my first one for my then 3 year old daughter. Best choice I ever made.

thanks for the post, a few more questions for yall

do you recommend a setup for a hatchling, and where do you recommend buying, there seems to be some good deals on here at kingsnake but i feel the shipping would cause the animal alot of stress, thanks for looking

IF you post where you are located, I am sure there is someone local that you get get a good deal from. Babies are starting to hatch now
I am sure that someone has some babies ava now. You can set it up in a ten gallon tank to start with, There is a caresheet at the top of the page for more details, I would suggest reading that to give you a better idea of the setup and care.

i would try to avoid most chain pet stores.(petco, petsmart) prices are kinda high. U should be able to learn alot from these forums

shipping can be stressful for a snake, but guess how they get to pet stores? yup, shipped.
You need to give a new snake a week to get used to its surroundings no matter what, and shipping is pretty much unavoidable unless you have a local breeder. See if there are any small clean reliable pet stores. ask them about the ball pythons and see if they can show you them eating and handle them (before the eating part, lol) they often can help you with a setup if you get a snake there too.
Again, where do you live? maybe people can find some good local breeders that can help you out!
