pre egg shed

po Apr 22, 2008 07:29 PM

well, it looks as though we may have a gravid ball, just wanted to know, do they always shed before they lay? in all our careful records some sheds get missed, esp. with multi critter cages. shes been off food ~4 weeks and is huge and been digging. we gave her an egg box just in case. shes big enough to breed for sure, but it was not planned, we didnt cool or anything, but would be a nice thing for the husband, hes never seen any animal have babies, herp or not...

I'm sorry po, but I've never bred these guys. I think they do have a prelay shed, but don't know for certain. Check the ball python forum. It sounds like you re doing everything right just in case though.

they do have a prelay shed. i have some say that they have had eggs without one but i never have. they will usually lay about 30 days after the shed. it varies. i have had them lay from 25 to 41 days after shed. incubate at 88degrees. usually hatch around 55 days, but this too varies. good luck Rin
