Why isnt this a "hot topic" in all the snake forums?

first it will be registration, then mandatory microchipping, then.........oooh its an assault snake, no legitimate use, ban it.
big snakes will go first, then hots.. soon all we'll be left with is garter snakes. ooh and ban all hybrid/morph snakes we don't want frankensnakes running around god knows what's in their dna. could be rattlesnake genes in there somewhere. and it really is for our own good really......

How are things going with this anyway? Not good I guess? Are any of the comments even opening there eyes at all? I would think hots would go way before ball pythons, personally I see no reason someone needs to keep a Cobra or a Rattlesnake snake for a pet but there are all types I guess.

Personally I think the buying, selling, and keeping of venomous and large snakes should be far more regulated than it is. The fact that any idiot can buy a snake that grows to 25 feet for $70 without having some sort of license or facility inspection is a bit ridiculous. I've had several people tell me their own hick tales of owning a "giant badass snake" that later they just let go somewhere when it got too big. My favorite is the story of the moron "walking" his rattlesnake on a leash.

I don't by any means think these animals should be banned but at the very least a license should be required to own one. It would surely cut down the impulse buys of people looking for status symbols.
