shedding

collaredsguy Apr 23, 2008 01:19 PM

hey how often would a collared shed, mine shed in about january after brumation, and my guy did a partial shed in like march, where it was everywhere but his tail. i think he still has the old skin there maybe not. their again kinda looking a little dull and crusty. i thought they shed maybe three times a year am i wrong on this? seems like their doing it alot. not a big deal but it just something that i was thinking about. if their shedding more often then does that mean my lizards are younger and still growing or is this just an annual shed.

I spend to much time on this forum, but where else cant talk about this stuff.Cant do it with my parents, haha. thanks for the help everyone.

Hi, spend as much time as ya want, we love talkin lizards here, lol. As far as shedding, if you have young collareds than it is normal to shed more frequently while they are growing.

As they mature it may slow down to a few times a year.

Like I said it's nice to have you here and feel free to fire away with any questions you may have, or to share things you have learned or just want to talk about.

Also post as many pics as you want we love collared pics too , If you ever want to share other lizard species pics or other furry, feather, pets, just put... O/T (off topic) in the subject line then what your pic is. We are easy going around here,

thanks eve, im finding this forum really useful and I'd be lost without it. as soon as I get a camera i will be shooting away with it. I'm afraid to give advice here tho cuz im a novice and have had my guys about 9 months and im asking more questions then advice that i give. altho i guess my contribution is helping to understanding these great creatures. I may have paid 40 dollars for these reptiles but they are priceless to me.so yeah thanks alot everyone.
