If about half of the babies were a lot darker than the rest then its likely you have a dom/co-dom trait like how petes is acting. If all of them end up light like that ghost then it is still possible that you have a recessive mutation. Breed siblings together and 25% of the offspring should express the trait. It is possible that the gene is only expressed when the anery gene is present so document your breeding trials and navigate your breedings in a way that covers all possibilities. Good luck - cool snake

Did you keep all of his puppies so you watch them to see how they progress? I still say that's a cool anery...

I am not trying to crush any spirits here, but I do no think that what you have is inherritable....I have had a female columbian go through a change and when she started she looked normal, but when she was done she looked exactly the way your snake does.....I have even talked with a few people that have had this happen to them.....I have also seen this happen in ball pythons and reticulated pythons.....I hope this helps....

It does not crush any spirits...

Thanks for the comments, but it was not a question of whether it was inheritable or not. I already know for a fact it is inheritable! I have produced 3 litters to date in 2 years. The babies express the same traits while some do not.

What I was looking for is a breeding stratagy for these boas.

Thanks Andy

cool. than maybe it will work something like petes. Your next step is to breed two of the animals expressing that trait together and see if 25% of the offspring either have an extremely different look or/and when bred to a normal boa produce 100% of animals that show the original trait. co-dom woo hoo
