Unexpected dad...for the first time!

macajuel Apr 24, 2008 01:28 PM

I got home around 10:30pm est and started getting ready to install a ceiling fan in the living room. When I walked in to get my tools in the snakes rooom (also my everything room) my wife screamed "Babe look!". We were in shock as I had given up on the idea that the mother was holding any babies since she never looked it. "We are first time parents!" she said. I fed the mother regularly and she took the food so I fugured she was just showing her size from being fed. She is a 6 3/4 ft common Colombian and the dad is 6 1/2 also common Colombian. They were my first pr. after my first boa passed away about 4 yrs ago and I got them as babies.

So here are the results: 15 alive 0 slugs 0 stillborns, WOW, I guess the temps and everything was ok for them (I live in NY, so it gets a little chilly).

Well here are some pics of them, I kkow that they are not great but bare with me, they are just commons (But I love 'em). I will post some more after their first shed.

Please also feel free to reply with A FEW POINTERS, as I will probably need some. Like, what to do with the umbilical cords that are connected to them. Sorry for the long story, but I am just so gosh darn happy. Thanks for looking and in advance for your replies!

PS: the ceiling fan never got installed.

Nature takes care of umbilical cords. They'll
drop off on their own.The babies should shed
7-11 days aprox after birth. Then offer them small
mouse meal. Lar M

There is nothing like the feeling of your first litter, walking in and seeing all those little heads pointing up. I will just agree with the advise you already got.
Beautiful litter, congrats!
