Thought you all might enjoy this. I mistakenly said he was a she. This is an 05' male.

Andy

I figure I better add some history.

Here is a pic a several of the normals from that litter.

The one in the video is 2nd in on the right.

Here is another...

Now when you are sorting them out from the sibling hypos it is not real hard when the hypos look like these....

Anyway....I hope you enjoy the video!

Calico’s

I wanted to share my thoughts on what a Calico is to me.
When I was a kid we had a pet cat that was a Calico, she was all kinds of different colors. She was not for example: a red cat with white specks or a tiger cat with white specks.
Now what I have seen in boas, that others have called or referred to as Calico, is ...a boa of whatever flavor splashed with some white scales. I have yet to see one of those that was covered with those white scales end up not being het for albino as well.
It makes sense to me, that the albino gene is bleeding through to show what is underneath genetically.

Now the Calico that I have shown, is marbled with many colors...it appears that there is a interruption in the color pattern. I have this trait in more than a few. I sold some early on and the new owners report the same.

I would love to have a discussion on this topic, it would be great if people could open up and simply guess or state your theory. There is to much stick in the mud mentalities around in the Boa world. It is creative thinking that will take us ahead. Please consider sharing any thought you may have.

Thanks Andy Federico

NOTE THE ONE THAT ALMOST GOT AWAY! LOL

I have also noticed that calico(albino) animals only pop up when heterozygous animals and homozygous animals are expected in the litter(het-het / Homo-het) and it would make sense that calicoes generally breed as either a het or homozygous albino. Have there been calicoes that have bred as hets and some that breed as albinos or are these paradoxes not guaranteed until bred? not enough known yet? Anyway, your boas have a very unique look and a cool blotchey coloration. there is probably a lot to be done with your line of boas. Keep the best of that line separate from the mutation world and work on keeping normal boas abnormal. oh, and your snake is getting away
