Rack Question

feral Apr 25, 2008 12:12 AM

I am looking into getting a rack, but was wondering what some more experienced bp owners would say would be a good tub size for an adult female who is in the five and a half foot range? I was told a 32qt would do her fine but looking at them at the stores it just feels to me that she would be overly cramped in it. Just looking for some ideas really

And does anyone know of a feasible way if I decided to go with a custom rack to get a 41qt tub to work on the bottom of a rack that would hold for the rest of the shelves 32qt tubs?

Thanks!

I usually house my big females in CB70 tub racks (41 quart). I know many other breeders who use 32 qt for their adults though.

If you're using Sterilite tubs then their 28 quart tub and their 41 quart tub are the same height and width. You could make a rack that could use either tub. You just wouldn't slide the 28 quart tubs in as far or if you slide them in from the side then just center the 28qt tubs. I don't know about 32 quart tubs though.

a 32qt tub is sufficient for all but the biggest ball pyhons. A 5 1/2 ft ball python is huge and possibly over estimated but with a snake that large I would possibly go with the 41qt/cb70 but a 32qt with the proper heating would do. I house all but my very biggest in 32qt tubs and know alot of other breeders that do the same.
