More artificial rocks

These are the colors I came up with so far. The smaller one is more like a color swatch sample... half dark brown/black and the other half grey. The grey half turned out darker than what I had in mind. I think I'll make a off-whitish/greyish one before I decide on the color scheme for the enclosures.

They look GREAT. You should consider selling them, or at least making a website detailing how to make them.

I've been considering making rocks by making molds of actual boulders, then casting just a thin shell (making a large hollow rock). I think the hardest part would be painting it realistically, but you seem to have no problem with that part!

Thank you!

I'd like to put up a website, but I have no clue how... I'm not computer savy. Maybe I could ask someone to do it for me.

Actually, the hardest step of the entire process is choosing the right rock. The moulding step comes in second, and the painting part being the easiest, in my opinion.

Do you have a technique to get the paint looking so real? I need to build some rocks, myself.

No technique down yet, I'm still experimenting with the coloring process.
However, I would like to clarify that these rocks are done dfferently from the cement and rigid-foam rocks typically seen in these forums. These are casted from real rocks.
But, I dont' see why you can't color them in a similar way I do it.
Your recently sculpted rock (still wet)would be already dyed with a base color... let's say buff. The next step is to achieve the stains and shading on the rock. You either dab some powder dye with a sponge or dust it on while the cement(sculpted rock) is till wet. Keep repeating this step until you like what you see. It's that simple.
