Eggs What went wrong

EvoMorphs Apr 25, 2008 03:25 PM

My beardie laid eggs, I got them in the incubator fairly quickly all seem to be going good for a month and now they all deflated. I cut one open and they were diffidently developing. the humidity was always a little high 70-80% but there wasn't any moisture on the eggs, temps were between 81-85 usually 82ish but what I'm thinking went wrong is one day it got hot in the snake room and the incubator was at 89 deg. did that one day kill my eggs.

Live and learn just dont what to mess up again.

And how often can me beardie get pregnant my male doesn't leave her alone, I need anther female.

The humidity should be as high as possible. Mine are at 95% now. My eggs are in deli cups with (3) 1/8" holes for ventilation. The closed cups keeps the humidity high. After I put in the eggs I weigh the cups and mark the lids. Each week I weigh the cups and add the water that has evaporated. My gut feeling is that the humidity was too low. The eggs absorb moisture and grow significantly as you incubate them. Did you experience this?

Females only lay eggs once a year but often multiple clutches. One of mine lays a clutch every 15 days and is about to lay her 5th clutch. Most lay a clutch about every 3 weeks. If it has been over a month, then she is most likely done for this year.

My other thought is that the male is stressing her out and keeping her from eating. This may have kept her from laying multiple clutches. If a male constantly interupts one of my females when she eats I separate them until egg laying season ends.
