Standoff, Gopher Snake Vs. Squirrel

CKing Apr 25, 2008 08:21 PM

The gopher snake was just sunning itself. The young ground squirrels are curious and want to take a closer look at this strange animal. They approach cautiously, ready to run away if necessary, while an adult squirrel is making an alarm call in the background. The gopher snake is ready to defend itself, but it is not too worried. A standoff in which nobody got hurt.

That's a great picture!! A lot of times the squirrels will attack the snake.

Good job getting that picture. It's great to see stuff like that, and even better when you have a camera with you.

Great pic. I'm guessing from the snake's pattern that it's a Pcific Gopher from NorCal.
