a question about morphs..

jag Apr 25, 2008 09:39 PM

Ok, can someone please explain what an enigma is? And what is the big deal with the Mack Snows? I do not mean to sound ignorant, but I have been out of the loop for a while, know what I mean?

I don't know anything about Enigmas, but mack snows are a co-dominant morph so you can get mack snow offspring (heterozygous form) in the first generation with just a mack snow and a normal.

Homozygous form, or "Super Mack snow", will produce 100% mack snows when bred to a normal.

Those morphs are the equivalent to what blizzards were back in 2002(?) as far as "big deal" goes.

They are simple recessive co-dom morphs which popped up out of nowhere within the past 3 years.

Co-dom means that even the heterozygous form of the gecko possess physical characteristics of the trait.

Enigma is a more complicated morph because there is no homozygous form of the trait. You can breed it to anything and 50% of the babies will be enigmas.
