First time bearded dragon laying eggs...

Melissa324 Apr 26, 2008 02:10 AM

So, my bearded dragon is laying eggs. This is the first time I'm doing this. I thought maybe she'd wait so I could get vermiculite for the hovabator incubator I just got today. She didn't wanna wait apparently. She started digging about hours ago and now there's one egg. I have that compressed coconut husk dirt in her sterilite and she dug to the bottom, straight down, and laid the one egg there. Now she's napping. What should I do until I can get to a store in the morning? Should I leave the egg(s) in with her? Should I take it out and put some dirt in a container and put that in the incubator in the mean time? I don't want to lose the babies. ( Please please please give me some advice. I can be reached here, at my email address "Melissa.Grumelli@gmail.com" or on my AIM screenname... Babygirl05282004

She only laid one egg, You need to get her into a proper nest box where she can dig in and lay them all.

Just don't turn the egg. Dirt will be fine for now. The only downside with dirt is that it could get moldy in the 2 months of incubation.
