The new girl ate

wftright Apr 26, 2008 05:20 PM

My new girl ate on my first feeding attempt for her. I gave her a pinkie last night, and she took the pinkie within an hour or so. I didn't try hand feeding or bag feeding. I just left the pinkie outside her cool hide and she ate.

She seems fairly active. While I've seen her under the kraft paper substrate several times, she's often been in one of her hides or even exploring the cage.

I don't have a new picture of her, but here's one that I took on that first day.

Yep, I always feel better when they eat. I take the eating as a sign that she's happy with her new home. Eventually, she'll go to a 20 gallon aquarium. I have a bunch of hides already purchased for her. For now, she's making do with less space, but I wanted to see whether a very small snake would really be happier in a small container.

The white is awesome. I had wanted a zonata, but she's the best of both worlds.

she ate. She's always been a good feeder, but she took awhile to get off tease feeding. Her and Rocket are gonna make some good babies one day.

I figured that she'd be good coming from you, but I always worry that I haven't given her everything she needs. Her taking that first meal makes me feel better that she's happy in her new home. I haven't seen her at all today, so she must be somewhere digesting.

Rocket took another fuzzy last night. I thought he might still be full from eating earlier in the week, but I left a warmed fuzzy in his cage. He took it during the night. Maybe this year will be the year that he really starts to grow.

These two should make some nice young ones. I don't intend to produce many. I'm still not interested in being a breeder, but I want to experience that side of the hobby a little bit. With two such awesome animals, I'd also like to pass their genes to another generation.

Chris' animals have always been good to me! walt, Emma, and Wilma all ate a large hopper right out of the box and are now in the jacuzzi enjoying margaritas and hooking it up! I gotta say, these snakes are great, I'll get pics up after the deeds are done!

Giving time for the kinder makin! Chris suggested an immediate hookup session and that is exactly what I am doing, what would you like some hairless ape shooting pics on dummy mode just when you were goin' for the gold? Oh wait, maybe you would, lol! Needle Peak seems very cold right now, when we goin'? Plus, I got a few shots the other day Go see Gerold's place.

You look like you got a little Hubbsquatch in you. Why don't you go find us an annulata or something and post a photo with that new camera. All those photos on G's forum look great!

Joe & Todd,

Great photo editing guys...What editor are y'all using to create such gems?

By the way, y'all stay out of any caves up on Needles Peak lest you run into a Black Beast for which there is no escape...

Unless the animator should have a sudden heartattack to end the peril...Ha! Ha!

Later,
Jim.

Joe,

You're right...Back on subject. Photoshop...I've got to get that...

By the way, that's an excellent specimen there and a very decent photo in it's own right...Who's working with the progeny from that adult?

Later,
Jim.

Jim,
Talk to Larry Briggs at Rock Canyon Ranch and tell him I sent you.
I got some of the babies back this year, so I've got progeny from that snake again after almost 30 years. Lance Benton also has some babies from Larry. Other folks that got babies from me 25 years ago are Steve Hammack, Mike Berardi, Dave and Tracy Barker, Kamuran Tepedelen, and Vern Veer. Steve Hammack "should" still have this line as well.

They are Mimbres Canyon animals, just this side of Rancho Santa Barbara.

Chris, Joe & Todd,

I wonder how the TWPD folks would take Joe's car driving down the highway with fly stick tape strips stuck straight out in the wind like streamers from a "Just Married" car...What a sight...

HA! HA! HA! HA!

Yep, Emma is the mother of my new little one. She ate Friday night, so I'll probably open her cage again tonight to change water.
