albino morphs

montag Apr 26, 2008 08:28 PM

I am really confused about the way the albino gene works in retics. from what ive read there are white lavender and purple phase albinos. So if u breed any combination of the three together u should get babies that show all three colors? Is this true because ive read that there are albino genes that dont mix in retics.

Hello,

Basically there are two different types of albinos, and yes if bred together they will not be compatible and will just give you normal looking hets for both albino traits. The clark strain albino if bred to another clark strain albino or het albino will give you potentially 3 different color albinos: purple phase, lavender, or normal white albino. These albino babies are completely random, and all three can be seen in the same clutch if your lucky. There is also the "white phase" albino or amel albino as they are often referred that will only give you amel type albinos if bred with two amel albino hets or albinos. These will not have the 3 different color phases like the clark strain, but they are much prettier in my honest opinion. I hope that answers your question.

take care
Shannon
