I have recently purchased a 5 month old Male and Female. The female seems to be doing fine, she's pooped twice since I got her on 4/23/08 but the male hasn't pooped yet.
I don't think that he could be impacted due to my handling because all that I've fed them are greens (no bigger than the size of their head and without any stringy type filaments) small crickets and a couple of waxworms. His back legs and tail are not partially paralyzed as seen with some impactions.
My set up is currently 2 10 gallon terrariums and I think that he's still stressed from the new environment because he's skittish if I go to touch him and he keeps scrabbling up and down one side of the tank.
Incidentally this was the side of the tank facing the female so I did try and put them together for a couple of minutes to see how he would react and he continued to follow the same behavior.
Then I tried covering the glass with some cardboard (on the outside of the enclosure) so that he couldn't see my movements because I assumed they were stressing him out. He continued to follow the same behavior on the sides of the tank that he could still see out of (facing the females tank and the wall).
Since this problem both of my dragons have stopped their continuous rampage for crickets. They both eat the waxworms readily but when I drop some crickets in the tank they both ignore them unless they are right under the dragons' noses.
When I try to give him a bath he scrabbles up my arm to stay out of the water (I was careful to make sure that the water wasn't too warm).
If anyone has some advice please share it with me. This health problem has actually been keeping me from sleeping due to worry.
